The Human Fertilisation & Embryology Authority (HFEA) have issued the latest ‘State of the Fertility Sector’ report for 2021-2022.
The annual report summarises HFEA inspection work for 2021-22 as well as information recorded in incident reports on the HFEA Register of fertility treatments, and through patient feedback mechanisms.
Almost 90,000 treatment, storage and donation cycles are carried out each year and over 99% of these are carried out without any incidents being reported.
Patients can be reassured that UK clinics continue to provide safe and high-quality care; the report confirms that the risk of being involved in an incident is very low.
As professionals we should continue to focus on improving quality of care, patient safety and patient experience
ARCS continue to work closely with the regulator providing guidance to the sector.
