Jackson Kirkman-Brown is Person Responsible and Science Lead at Birmingham Women’s Fertility Centre

I’m honoured to send this message to you, my first as Chair of ARCS, having taken over from Jason at the AGM in January. I would like to acknowledge once again Jason’s phenomenal service as our founder-Chair – giving ARCS firm foundations for the years ahead.

ARCS has stood strong throughout the pandemic, continuing to strive to ensure the voice of  Andrologists and Embryologists is heard, and that they receive the recognition deserved. Our key priority – to increase professional recognition for our members –  is progressing well. As your Association, delivering CPD and guiding the education and futures for our field, we aim to make sure every member sees real benefit from their membership.

I am delighted to announce that we plan to have a face-to-face ARCS Symposium in Autumn 2022 – a day of talks, short papers and education, followed by dinner and dancing. A full programme and registration details will follow soon.

We are fortunate to have a highly committed Executive Committee who work extremely hard, in their own time, to deliver benefits to our members. We have recently seen a number of Committee members retire from their posts and I would like to thank David Sanders, Karen Thompson and Georgie Bartl for their remarkable efforts for the Society to date. We are fortunate that they will continue to be heavily involved in ARCS, which we also thank them for.

Over the coming months there are a series of key events: NICE will begin their review of the Fertility guidance, which is likely to take some time; we have the first STP students starting the new modified curriculum; centres starting to implement the new WHO semen analysis guidance and changes to HFEA storage guidance. Throughout this ARCS will continue to be your voice.

Please do reach out and let the Exec know your thoughts about things we are doing well or could improve. We are also keen for people to get involved with the work ARCS does, and to join our sub-committees. We will shortly circulate more information about this.

In the meantime I look forward to seeing everyone soon!

Best wishes,

Jackson
