ARCS Grant Opportunities
As a member of ARCS, you have access to apply for an ARCS outreach, research or travel grant. You need to have been a full member for at least one year.
Research and Outreach grants are to fund small or pilot research and public education materials.
Travel grants are offered to enable members the opportunity to attend relevant meetings and training days.
Grant recipients are expected to communicate the completed project’s findings through a paper, oral presentation, poster, or article for publication in ‘The Reproductive Scientist’.

Research Grants
ARCS offer up to two £1000 research grants per year. The award is intended to encourage small research projects by making resources available to fund expenses which might otherwise prevent small or pilot studies from taking place. The funds may also be used towards larger projects where additional funding is also sought elsewhere.
A single research grant will be issued to one member within each individual licensed centre or academic unit per year. Applicants need to obtain agreement from their HFEA Person Responsible to confirm they have permission to undertake the research proposed. Researchers are required to make sure they have NHS Research and Development Permission, Ethics Approval and/or HFEA research licence as appropriate.
Research Projects would be communicated, where appropriate, by publication as a research paper, or as an oral/poster presentation at a scientific meeting.
Outreach Grants
ARCS offer up to two £500 outreach grants per year. The award is intended to encourage applicants to provide well-resourced outreach projects in the wider community to help educate and inform the public about Fertility and Reproductive Health, or about the work of Reproductive or Clinical Scientists. This includes STEM activities.
A single outreach grant will be issued to one member within each individual licensed centre or academic unit per year. Applicants need to obtain agreement from their HFEA Person Responsible to confirm they have permission to undertake the proposed outreach project.
Upon completion of an outreach project, ARCS would expect applicants to write a short article for publication in “The Reproductive Scientist”.
Travel Grants
ARCS offer Travel Grants of up to £1000 to cover the costs of registration, accommodation, and travel for members to attend ARCS meetings. This may be Fertility, ARCS Symposium, ARCS training days, Best Practice meetings and so on.
Travel Grants are open to pre- and post-registration scientists and all applicants are required to obtain agreement from their line manager to confirm they have been given leave to attend the proposed meeting and that if they do not attend the meeting, the grant will need to be returned.
A member can only receive one grant in any four-year period. A single travel grant will be issued to up to three members within each individual licensed centre or academic unit per year. Travel Grants are prioritised for members presenting at a conference and members can apply in advance of acceptance of an abstract.
All ARCS ask for in return is a written report of the meeting attended for publication in ‘The Reproductive Scientist’.
